I started my day going to my eye doctor. That is one of the differences from Brazil that bothers me a lot: here I need 2 eye doctors – one for normal glasses and other for contact lenses. I need to pay a @25 co payment for each one just to see that my grade didn’t increase and to get a new prescription for contact lenses. Yes, here I need prescription for contact lenses… In Brazil I have just one eye doctor for everything, and I don’t need prescription to buy contact lenses… They dilated my eyes, so I couldn’t see pretty well… it was not a big problem hehehe I came back, had a egg with Jan and he gave me a ride… ah, the doctor mentioned that she already can see I will need glasses to read… in maybe 5 years, because normally starts around 40 years old. Seriously, it was the first time I had to imagine being 40.. it looks sooooo far away. more…

I am feeling so good today. First because I started a new diet ( I new, you are tired of reading it here, just like my husband)… but I really enjoyed the weight watchers website… the way I can add what I eat and how it calculates the points is just amazing. In my diet plan it would take me 13 weeks to arrive in my goal… that is a great news! I have time to be in better shape to beach week and graduation weekend! Please friends and family help me to stick to it… more…

I felt my anxiety last night: I woke up at the middle of the night, and also at 7h30, before the alarm clock (programmed to 8h30). My heart was faster than usual and my mind didn’t stop one second. I was thinking about my summer job, but especially about my move. My home is a complete mess today… we badly have space to walk! And we started to get more worried about space. So, we found 3 main solutions: more…

The first funny thing of my day: the mother of the boy I took care yesterday wrote me an email thanking me and then saying that I put the diaper backwards! hahahahaha That is why it was losing in him… I really need to learn the basic things before thinking about being a mom hehehehehe

I took my friend Sarah to the airport and after that I took care of myself: massage for 1 hour and then, for the first time, bikini wax! Even though I miss badly the salon I used to go in Brazil, and I taught I would like here, it was impossible to enjoy: TOO EXPENSIVE! $40 dollars to wax only the bikini area??? In Brazil with the money I would wax all my body! Anyway, I am ready to go to the beach! Can’t wait for that… I need to relax. more…

2h30 in the morning. I can’t sleep. So anxious about everything that I need to do and the things that are coming in my summer. I can’t fully relax. After a long day, my team almost finished our case wrap-up for a class. It is the final document we need to turn in; no final exams! The case is pretty good, nice to read and with a lot of cool information.

We decided to talk about Shoeboxed.com, a start-up company based here in Durham, with founders ranging from 24 to 26 years old. It was one additional contact that helped me understand how much I would love to ride this way… entrepreneurship! The idea is cool (organize receipts -> to become one day a paperless service). The office is clean, young, in an old building at downtown Durham. The business clothes are jeans, t shirts and flip-flops. What a dream! (not the flip flop part. I don’t think it is beautiful with jeans! Sorry my American friends :) ) more…

I think I have never written here about my gum’s passion. Actually is kind of addiction. I believe I eat in average 10 gums per day. Of course, they are diet. Normally it is Trident, my favorite brand! I don’t know how I became so addicted to gums, but it is so strong that if I don’t have some with me I start to look around to ask someone.

I know that gum has calories, but unfortunately that is the only thing I had never counted in my day. So maybe I should say that since I started my diet I consumed the calories reported here + 10 gums! Do you think I would have lost more weight if I haven’t had all those gum? more…

The alarm clock sounded at 6h30. I couldn’t use Snooze, but I did. I woke up at 6h45. I had 30 min to leave home, because I should be 7h30 at the High School I volunteer. I made it happen. It was the hardest day ever to wake up. I almost cried and my body didn’t want to move… Sometimes it is impossible to make the mind and body obey the day’s demand. more…

Thank you Sarah! We made my night… at least while I was at the event and ate the amazing chocolate mousse. But then I arrived home and I couldn’t stop thinking about the next piece of chocolate I would have… unfortunately, I didn’t have anything amazing at home and ended up eating old chocolate heehaw But Magda, I do ate the one you gave me in eastern and was AWESOME! more…

Some days it is just hard to think about what I am going to say, especially in a total normal (of course, busy) day! Nothing different happened. I had 3 meetings in my “free” Wednesday and since I arrived home (around 7pm) I have my laptop in my lap… working, emails, Skype, working… more emails… ah, facebook … and emails hahahaha I have a relation of love and hate with technology. I am addicted to all kinds of technology and devices that help communication. more…

Unfortunately for me today was Easter! Not that I don’t like Easter, actually it always was my favorite holyday! Not only for the main reason, but also because of the amount of chocolate I always received from my family! In Brazil the chocolate eggs are different from here! We have big egg (like in the pic) full of smaller chocolates inside. It can be any flavor! Just the idea of receiving one make me smell it!

But even that here we don’t have this kind of tradition chocolate, everywhere we look are full of small eggs, chocolate rabbits and other formats! But guess what? Because of my diet I can eat chocolate until April 14th, and for that reason I didn’t receive anything… my husband didn’t want me suffering here, looking at the chocolate eggs and desire them. more…
