After a cold winter, the spring is bringing sunny days for us! The temperature right now is exactly my favorite one… warm during the day, and chilli at evening! It is much easier wake up without the fear of having to take off ice from the car before 8am class! My sister in law arrived today to visit us for 3 days. She was the last one from our closer family to come here, and in only 12 hours together we already had a lot of fun!
Our city doesn’t have a lot of things to do, so it is always a challenge decide how to fulfill the visitor’s day! We started by the obvious choice: show my school! For me it is the most beautiful part of the city and also a place I am proud of being part. But before going there we went to Sarah Duke Gardens, a beautiful park (much nicer in spring and summer) to eat something while enjoying the sun! My day started at 11h30am… I was mentally tired, thinking in so many and at the same time different things, that I believe my mind asked a break! It knows that while I am awake my mind doesn’t stop working for one minute… My day was short… I mean, with daylight, because now the night is a child (as we say in Brazil).
My husband and I went to Raleigh mall in the end of the day. Just to give an idea for you: the mall is 30 min driving from our home, and now for us it is REALLY far… my father spent 2 hours today to drive a small distance in São Paulo – Brazil. I said to my husband: “I don’t want to come back… I will just go to visit my family and friends”. Now I give the real value to quality of life. I love the calm and easy way of our life now… and I don’t mean that it is not busy, but it is not stressful in the way a huge city as São Paulo is. more…
First of all: HAPPY BIRTHDY DADDY!!! Today is the second year that I “miss” my father’s birthday. For my family it is really important to be together in those days, but unfortunately the distance doesn’t let me to be there now! At least Skype can help… a lot! It is easier to stand the distance when we can see and talk with our beloved!
Besides that today was a normal day! I went out to buy my dresses and sandals, and came back with a grilled chicken hehehehe Let me explain: I went to 3 more stores today and I didn’t buy even one piece of something… so as a good women, that need to hold new bags, I went to a grocery store and bought our lunch!

Definitely I can’t have classes starting at 10h30! The reason is really simple: I can’t wait early as I plan every time… For example today, I set up the alarm clock to 8h00 am (later than all other days) but I woke up at 9h45. That means 1h45 pushing the snooze! I didn’t have time to take shower, I didn’t have breakfast and I didn’t do the things I had planned last night. I hate that! But since I was a child it is hard for me to wake up if I don’t have anything really schedule. more…
Counting calories is incredible… in a good and in a bad way. The good one is keep track of everything I eat, and learn how to have enough food without eating more than 1,200 calories per day. The bad aspect is realized how much I used to eat before my diet.
Sometimes I used to ask myself “How did you gain so much weight? You don’t eat so much!” Well, that was my impression and I don’t know compared to what I thought I didn’t eat so much. Seriously, after this month I look to my past food behavior and I believe in average I used to eat 3,000 calories day, without exercises. It is a simple math again. Uhu! At least it was a good Monday! I lost 0.7 kilos last week… what I think is pretty good, after so many days without exercises and not eating healthy! But, as mentioned yesterday, I will weight everyday during this week to see how variable weight can be… I will post the result, but I will not change the result on the right sidebar! That’s only for Monday weight!
Because of the snow (what a good excuse!) I didn’t go to the gym for the 4th day in a row. I know that is a shame, but going by car would be tough and walking would increase the probability of a broken leg! Seriously, the road was really “icy”, and I almost felt just bringing the grocery purchase. So, I decided to stay home, quiet, warm (and drunk hehehe). It is only Monday and I am going to bed drunk! But I had two good reasons to drink alone today: first, my husband is coming back tomorrow; second I received my internship’s start and end date and I am more than happy to know that we will have one week to move back to NC, and go to my sister’s weeding in Brazil! more…
I always hated gym, actually all kinds of sports and exercise. I don’t like to lift weights and run at treadmill is really boring (look at the wall for 30 min – OMG). The only thing I enjoyed to do were bike and dance classes because they combine exercises with music. Unfortunately, it is not so easy to find dance classes and I am not so good as I wanted (I have 2 left feet)!
I can’t take bike classes because of my knee problem. I don’t know exactly what my problem is, but I do know the pain I feel after strong impact knee exercises. Running and biking increase my knee’s pain. So, with my limit range of aerobic exercises to choose from, I found the elliptical machine. more…
My classes really started today, and after a month I woke up at 6h30. It was still dark and cold. I was really tired because in this break I got used to go to bed at 2 am and wake up at 10h30. All my life I was like that. I remembered my father trying to make me go to bed early one week before my classes started, just to get used to the new time… it had never worked for me.
The problem is that in the afternoon I was so tired that instead of going to the gym, I decided to take a nap… a nap that lasted for 2 hours. What a shame! I ignored completely my gym and my readings for tomorrow classes. more…
