it was cold, really cold.. of course I was not prepared at all… It was packed.. traffic of people in the sidewalks close to Radio City Hall… a woman comment’s: “I live here for 11 years and have never seen it like that”. When we arrived around 2 pm on Saturday and I left the bus, I smelt it.. the smell I remembered from NY when I visited it with my parents in 1993. Yes, I am talking about 18 years ago. But the smell was just like yesterday. It was a good time; my first time seeing snow falling from the sky, the twin towers were there, and I was a naive young girl thinking life can be perfect…
I am not saying life is not good, but is far from perfect.. more…
The day started with a visit to the Italian Market in south Philly. We went with one friend from work. It is a small “feira livre” in Brazil without caldo de cana, pastel and the weird guys screaming to get our attention. It is cheaper than grocery and they have a lot of meat stores and sea food. We bought the famous Cannoli at Isgros, a Italian pastry that exists for more than 100 years. The sweet is ok, but not something that Jan and I will dream about.
My friend’s mother is from Vietnam and she took us to a restaurant that she considers one of the best in Philly. The restaurant name is Pho-Ha. The main dish is called Pho, and it is a soup with meat, some vegetables and noodles. It is good, different from a lot of flavors that I know. I didn’t feel like more…
One of the most famous Brazilian Steakhouses in US is Fogo de Chao, and it is pretty famous in Brazil as well. The interesting fact is that today for the first time I went to this restaurant, and our first time in a Brazilian steakhouse in Philly. It was pretty good. They had our cheese bread, and Guarana (Unfortunately Schin brand and not the traditional Antartica), an amazing Picanha and Flank Steak, also a Beef ribs. The salad bar was kind of disappointing – they normally have a lot of seafood as well, but today was only salad items. For dessert: papaya cream with cassis – first time I had that in US. So good. We had so many waitress talking portuguese around us that was really nice. more…
The day started with a mass at St Matthews Roman Catholic Church, my first one in Conshohocken, Beautiful church, fast ceremony…the problem is that the priest’ microphone was too low.
After that we went to a tourism day at Philly: started with a brunch at Rittenhouse square in a great restaurant called Parc. The tables face the square and made us think about Paris.
Then we decided to the tour bus around Philly. It was the first time for my mom in law and Jan, so it was worth it.
Then we went to Pat’s Cheese Philly steak – it was full and pretty good, I like the flavor a lot but the problem is that we eat so fast, since there are always people waiting for table, and we feel bad later. My mother in law liked but not loved … and she was all messed up after eating that. more…
I have no idea how to write the title’s word, but it is something I was used to say to Jan I am kind of drunk. I would never imagined I would finished my day feeling drunk.. but you know what? sometimes it is just amazing. He arrived home earlier today and we went out to run some errands… buy some things for our home and we decided to have dinner in a nice place here, at Conshohocken – Coyote Crossing. I bought a Groupon 2 weeks ago and it was a perfect day to go there. more…
I woke up already tired. Sometimes I don’t know what happens to me, but I would be able to sleep the whole day, non stop. I woke up at 10h30.. then Jan had to work in something and I was waiting him for breakfast. He woke me up at 12h30, because the thing he had to do took longer than he imagined and of course I felt sleeping. Then I slept again while waiting him to go to driver license center. We went there, had a salad for lunch and an ice cream at Ritas. I was tired again. We arrived home and I slept while watching TV, until my new friend called me to arrange dinner. more…
What a confused day!! It was harder than ever to wake up. I set the alarm clock to 9am. I woke up at 7h30 and made Jan’s breakfast. Then I came back home. When the alarm rang the first time, I decided to set it to 10am, and then I used snooze until 1oh45. Then I finally woke up, and soon was ready for my lunch with one of the girls that are going to work with me. Actually should have been 2 girls, but one had to cancel in the last minute. We went to The Great American Pub – pretty good, but a little bit lousy. At the beginning we had to scream while talking… It was really good lunch and talk… specially because I could realize I am not the only weird future ABM not producing a lot. more…
It is good to live close to NYC…close enough to spend the weekend. We went by BoltBus, pretty good service, 2 hours from door to door (and here door is downtown Philly, we need to get a train to Philly first). Everything pretty easy.
When we arrived we decided to put our luggage at a storage and then do some tourism before going to my friend’s home. We went to Empire State Building, and went up to see the whole Manhattan view, we walked to West Village, met Sarah and walked more until Soho. Really nice areas at South part of NYC. I really want to explore more in a less hot day. Good we were melting, literally! more…
I know, I always need to have an excuse to sleep so much hehehe Sarah yesterday told me she probably would wake up between 8 and 9. So I woke up with Jan helped him with breakfast and come back to bed for some more minutes. I left the door open to listen for any movement. I woke u at 10 am with the alarm clock. So scary. It was that days that for 1 second I had no idea where I was, what was happening, why I should to wake up. more…
The way was fun and full of energy! It was pretty good to spend the day with her.. and she is sleeping next door.. living just tomorrow!
I picked her up in Philly and we went for lunch guess what? Continental… yes, it looks like that is the only place in town that I can go or take someone. The worse part is to find parking in Philly… I am terrible in parallel parking and start to sweat only with the thinking of trying one. Parking lot charge 7 dollars per 3o min. But anyway, it was a good lunch with a frozen yogurt for dessert.
